The Boycott List with Alternatives to Defund The Gaza Genocide

Trigger warning: Some readers may find the content of this post to be distressing.

We are living in a world where filmed evidence of war crimes and genocide, isn’t enough to stop them.

As I write, in mid August 2025, it has been months upon months of witnessing a genocide live on our phones. I am in disbelief at the lack of collective action taken by international governments, including the UK, where I reside. Despite mass international peaceful protests, governments worldwide continue to fund Israel and allow the Gaza genocide to continue at pace.

Words cannot describe how awful the situation is for the people of Gaza and Palestine as a whole. I cannot begin to understand what they are going through. Every day, the situation worsens and we feel more heart broken and powerless with what is happening.

We see hospitals bombed with doctors, medical staff & patients killed, and life-saving medical supplies obliterated. We see journalists targeted and killed for speaking the truth. We see Gaza flattened to the ground with heart breaking before and after videos. We hear of how Israel has dropped the equivalent of 2 nuclear bombs on Gaza, and the environmental impact this also has on our planet. We see emaciated babies and children so staved that they cannot walk or speak. We see children die of starvation with food and medical aid just kilometres away, that Israel will not let in.

We see Israel use mass starvation as a weapon of war. We see people crushed to death by food aid drops because Israel refuse to allow aid in on the ground. We see desperate people gather what little food they can find from aid drops off the floor to try to feed their families. We see people die from preventable illness as Israel will not let medical aid in. We see people shot at for attempting to fish from the Sea. We see people shot at whilst waiting in line for food. We hear the cries of mothers saying their breast milk has dried up due to their own malnutrition and their babies dying as Israel will not allow baby formula to enter Gaza. We see the people of Egypt filling water bottles with rice in the hope they will reach Gaza via the sea. We see animals also emaciated as there is no food for animals either.

We see humanitarian missions carried out by the Freedom Flotilla Coalition (of which Greta Thunberg is a member) being illegally intercepted on international waters multiple times on their mission to bring food, baby formula and aid to Gaza via the sea, to create a humanitarian corridor. We see overt racism in the form of Chris Smalls, the only black man on the Freedom Flotilla, being beaten up by Israeli soldiers whilst being illegally detained before being released much later than other members of the Flotilla.

We have been let down by our world leaders. Our leaders have lost all compassion for humanity. They profit from war and genocide at the expense of Palestinian people and other communities experiencing war. Our politicians have blood on their hands. They continue to allow military equipment to be sent to Israel, knowing it will be used to continue the Genocide in Gaza. Our leaders are bought by huge donations from Israel and change our democratic system into an authoritarian one; in which peaceful non violent protest becomes a crime. Police officers use Anti-Terrorism laws to carry out arrests of peaceful protesters; including multiple people in their 90s, blind people, disabled people, doctors and people from all walks of life. These arrested people face up to 14 years in prison for holding up signs that say they oppose genocide and support Palestine Action; which the government has been deemed to be a terrorist group because they have put paint on military equipment as a form of protest (to me, if anything this would be vandalism, certainly not terrorism). Worldwide, we also see people arrested and beaten up by police authorities for wearing a Palestinian flag or showing any signs that they oppose the genocide in Gaza.

After collectively agreeing as a society that the Holocaust was an awful and unacceptable occurrence in our history, we now watch history repeat itself within the same century live on our phones. History will remember our collective inaction.

The Boycott List with Alternatives

Compassionate people feel powerless in this situation. However, we have a collective power: the power of boycotting. When our words seem to hold little to no value, we can let our money do the talking for us, because money talks. We can refuse to give money to companies investing in occupied Palestine, and companies that invest in Israel’s expansion into the recognised state of Palestine. The genocide in Gaza is fuelled by money, and without it, the genocide cannot continue on a mass scale. By boycotting we can shame companies who are on the wrong side of history, and shift public opinion enough for it to be no longer economically viable for these companies to continue funding the genocide, either directly or indirectly.

When our words hold seem to hold no value, we can let our money do the talking for us.

Below is a non-exhaustive list of some well known companies who you should consider boycotting for the foreseeable future, along with alternative companies. I would highly recommend downloading the app ‘No Thanks’. This app has a barcode scanner to quickly see if the product(s) you’re thinking of buying should be boycotted. You can also search the company in manually to see if it’s on the boycott list. You may be surprised to hear that unfortunately there are a lot of companies on that list.

Doing what you can to boycott companies on the wrong side of history makes a difference, and I thank you in advance for taking this into consideration.
